Introduction

Our achievements in this area reflect the ongoing nature of our quest to extend our connections with the community.

St Gabriel's Primary School has many connections with the wider commnity:

  • St Gabriel's offers a wonderful preschool playgroup. See here for more details.
  • The Waterwatch team (Yarra Water/Darebin Council) where a variety of sessions are conducted at the school and the students are invited to particpate in excursions to the local parks and other wetlands.
  • Members of the School Choir sing at Masses and at Christmas they visit local aged care accommodation and stores.
  • The Fire Brigade, School Crossing Supervisors, the local Vet and many other community bodies are invited to speak to students at the school.
  • Working Bees allow parents to participate in maintaining an organised environment for their children.
  • Our School Fete draws all parts of the school and parish community together for an event which enables those living in the local area to visit the school and mix in an informal way. This is always an excellent means of creating positive public relations for the school.
  • Many regular events are run that invite our parent and or the broader community to witness the work the school does. These events include the Way of the Cross, Sports Days, Sacramental Masses (Communion & Confirmation), School and Class Masses, Easter Raffle and School Assemblies, to name but a few
